Medical Facials FAQ

What is a medical facial?

A medical facial merges the luxury of a classic spa facial with the efficacy of premium cosmo-ceutical skincare products that utilize medical-grade ingredients and advanced technology for more effective results. Our Custom Medical Facial is tailored to meet your specific skin needs and concerns, while our Advanced Medical Facial aims to provide more corrective results. Additional treatments may be incorporated, such as dermaplaning, microneedling and chemical exfoliation (peels) to further enhance your results. Medical Facials also complement our other aesthetic treatments.

What will I experience during a medical facial?

During a medical facial we will cleanse, steam, exfoliate, and treat your skin using a combination of medical-grade skincare products. Due to the high quality of active ingredients, it is common for the skin to tingle and feel warm, as well as experience a little flush. These are all great indications that the ingredients are effectively absorbed into your skin. Depending which specific facial is performed, your treatment may last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. After the procedure is completed, your skincare professional will discuss post-procedure protocol and recommended homecare to compliment and prolong your results.

When is the best time to get a facial?

Medical facials can be done year round, though it is recommended that you limit sun exposure after any treatment. During the summer months we will ensure your skin is protected before your leave the clinic and remind you to be diligent about applying your SPF.

Which type of facial is right for me?

Whether you are looking for a quick in-and-out, an effective preventative facial or a corrective treatment focussed on results, our experienced skincare professionals will work with you to understand your specific needs and recommend the correct facial for you. Not all skin conditions can be treated, even by our licensed aestheticians, so it is important to discuss skin sensitivities, allergies, underlying health conditions, and medications with your skincare professional prior to your treatment.

How often should I get a facial?

For most skin concerns you will benefit from a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Our Medical Aestheticians will work with you and your concerns to design a plan to ensure you achieve the best results possible.

What are dermaplaning and chemical exfoliation?

Dermaplaning and chemical exfoliation are often used during our Advanced Medical Facial. They are both methods of removing layers of dead skin cell buildup to reveal the bright, fresh, smooth skin underneath. Dermaplaning is a well-loved gentle physical exfoliation method that uncovers fresh, bright skin with the bonus of removing peach fuzz, leaving your skin soft and smooth. Chemical exfoliation (also referred to as a chemical peel) might sound frightening or intense, but our formulation is extremely gentle, while still being very effective. Chemical exfoliation also encourages cell turnover, increases hydration and clarifies the complexion. Both of these options are wonderful individually or may be combined.
