How it Works

Lip fillers use hyaluronic acid, a hydrating substance naturally found in the skin, joints, and eyes, to attract and retain moisture. This both hydrates and plumps the lips, enhancing volume and improving lip contour. The procedure involves careful injection of the filler into targeted areas of the lips to create fuller, more defined lips while maintaining a natural appearance. At Halcyon Cosmetic & Skin Clinic, we take a gradual approach to lip augmentation, ensuring that your results are finely tuned for a perfect, natural look. Whether you want subtle changes or a more pronounced pout, we make sure your lip enhancement blends seamlessly with your facial features.

    Lip Fillers FAQ

    What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers are cosmetic injections typically made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and helps retain moisture and plumpness. Lip filler is used to enhance the volume, shape, and structure of the lips.

How much lip filler do I need?

The number of syringes required depends on your desired results, your natural lip shape, and the recommendations of our experienced injector. Some individuals may achieve their desired look with just one syringe, while others might need more.

    Can I customize the results?

Absolutely. Our skilled and experienced medical doctor will work with you to achieve the look you want while ensuring natural proportions and symmetry.

    Is lip filler painful?

As with any type of injection, there is mild discomfort or a pinching sensation, but this is managed with both topical anaesthetic, as well as anaesthetic within the lip filler itself.

Are there any risks or side effects to lip filler?

Like any medical procedure, lip filler has potential risks. Common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, and redness. In rare cases, there might be more serious complications such as infection or uneven results. Choosing a trained and experienced injector can help minimize these risks.

You will see an immediate improvement after lip filler, but the look may be slightly distorted by swelling or bruising at first. After approximately 2 weeks, transient wide effects will have passed and they hyaluronic acid in the filler will have attracted moisture to the area to further soften and enhance your results.

How long do lip fillers last?

The duration of lip fillers varies based on the type of filler used and your own metabolism. Generally, hyaluronic acid-based fillers last around 6 to 12 months but in some cases they can last much longer.

Can I remove lip filler if I don't like the results?

Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This can reverse the effects of the filler if you’re not satisfied with the outcome. At Halcyon Cosmetic & Skin Clinic we are very happy to see you if you’ve had filler done elsewhere and require dissolving and/or correction.
