Understanding Permanent Makeup Failure, Healing & Correction Options
Permanent makeup does not always heal as expected. Shape may feel off, colour can shift over time, or pigment may become too dense, cool, or uneven — even when the procedure was performed by a trained artist.
At Halcyon Cosmetic & Skin Studio, permanent makeup correction and removal are approached as problem-solving, not cosmetic quick fixes. With over a decade of experience in complex correction, our focus is on understanding pigment behaviour, skin response, and what is realistically achievable — then building the safest, most efficient plan forward.
Clients visit Halcyon from Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby, and New Westminster seeking honest guidance and correction strategies that protect their skin while restoring natural, balanced results.

How PMU Correction & Removal Works
Permanent makeup correction begins with a detailed assessment of pigment type, depth, undertone, skin condition, and healed behaviour. Not all PMU issues should be treated the same way, and not all pigment should be corrected rather than lightened or removed.
At Halcyon, correction plans may include colour correction, saline removal, laser removal, or a strategic combination of techniques. While laser can be effective for certain dense or deeply implanted pigments, saline removal is often preferred when preserving skin integrity and reducing heat-related risks is a priority.
In many cases, partial lightening is performed before correction to reduce pigment density and improve predictability. Treatments are spaced deliberately to allow proper healing and avoid compounding skin trauma. The goal is never endless removal — the goal is to move you safely and efficiently toward better permanent makeup.
