At Halcyon Cosmetic Studio we offer a variety of scar treatments, with customized treatment plans aimed to restore your skin and your confidence.

Scar Treatments

  • Lumenis Nd:YAG Vascular Treatments target pronounced scar redness prior to scar remodelling or camouflage
  • Microneedling increases collagen production to remodel and reduce scar tissue
  • Scar camouflage minimizes the appearance of white scars after any redness, discolouration or textural changes have been minimized.
    Only white scars can be treated with scar camouflage pigment, a dark scar CANNOT be covered with light pigment.

    What is a scar?

    A scar is a natural part of the body’s healing process and is generally an area of fibrous tissue that results after an injury.

    What is IPL?

    IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. This photorejuvenation treatment can be customized by filtering the wavelengths of light to target your specific skin concerns. IPL is the “gold standard” for treating both redness and pigmented lesions with minimal to no downtime.

    What is microneedling?

    Microneedling uses a pen-like device to create microscopic injuries in the skin which signal skin cells to form new collagen during the repair process. It is very effective at improving general skin texture as well as the remodelling of scar tissue.

    What is scar camouflage tattooing?

    Scar camouflage tattooing is a very specialized tattoo technique that should only be performed by the most experienced artists, especially when the result of cancer treatment. It is appropriately used to minimize the appearance of white scars and should NEVER be used to lighten a darker scar. Read more about scar camouflage tattoos.

    How do I know which scar treatment is right for me?

    Most scar treatments will require a consultation for recommendations. During the consultation, we’ll assess your scars and suggest the most appropriate scar treatment.

    Are there contraindications?

    Yes. We will ask you for a full health history including medications.

    Do you ever refuse to do a scar treatment?

    Yes. We sometimes do refuse to provide surgery scar treatments. There are occasions where client expectations are not realistic or where we choose not to proceed for other reasons.
