    Skin Laser FAQ

What is Laser Genesis laser skin rejuvenation?

Laser Genesis uses heat and a specific wavelength of laser to bypass the epidermal (outermost) layer of the skin and treat deeply into the dermis. Collagen production slows dramatically with age. Heat from the laser works to denature existing, damaged collagen and then triggers your skin to form healthy, new collagen for improved tone and texture.

Are there different types of laser skin rejuvenation treatments?

There are many, many lasers on the market, some of which come from reputable manufacturers and many that do not. There are also many devices marketed as “lasers” that are not true lasers (such as IPL). Our Laser Genesis is a true, 1064nm Nd:YAG, Class IV laser manufactured by Cutera, a company that manufactures medical devices and is highly respected by physicians and the medical community.

    Does Laser Genesis hurt?

Laser Genesis is a very comfortable procedure and, as such, is a great introduction to laser skin treatments. The overall feeling of the procedure is a gentle warming of the skin although some clients, especially those with a lot of redness in their skin, will find the laser a little warmer. This is simply because there is more “target” present in the skin to absorb the laser energy.

How long will my skin take to heal?

Laser Genesis treatments require virtually no downtime although the skin may appear slightly pink immediately after treatment, especially sensitive skin. Pigmented lesions may also appear slightly darker. After all laser treatments you should be sure to protect your skin with a daily SPF of at least 30.

How many laser skin rejuvenation treatments will I need?

This depends on your goals and the response of your skin. In some instances just one treatment is effective, but generally a series of 3-8 treatments are required for optimal improvement. Treatments are spaced 4-8 weeks apart unless your goal is to minimize flushing or rosacea, laser treatments should be done 1-2 weeks apart.

How long will the results last?

Laser Genesis will stimulate collagen and elastin production to strengthen and thicken your own cellular matrix, so results are long-lasting, although your skin will continue to age.

Can I combine laser skin rejuvenation with microneedling?

YES! Combining overall skin rejuvenation with Laser Genesis while targeting problem areas more intensely with microneedling is a great, customized approach.

    Are there contraindications?
